What BLACK BOX is

BLACK BOX is the Push & Lift group of race-data apps. Each is an overlay: a transparent box floating above the simulator, readable at a glance while driving.

Requirements

  • Work with iRacing and Le Mans Ultimate.
  • Require the Push & Lift engine. The Suite starts it automatically when you enable an app.
  • To enable an overlay, first create your account on the Push & Lift screen. Otherwise a message asks you to create the account to open apps.
  • You can prepare them off track: Suite previews use demonstration data.

Shared by all five apps

All five open, start, move and configure the same way. Explained once here.

2.1 Opening from the Suite

  1. Open the Push & Lift screen from the bar logo.
  2. In the left menu, under BLACK BOX, select the app: STANDINGS, RELATIVE, FUEL, LAPS or CLIMA.
  3. Its screen appears on the right: controls at the top, preview on the left and menu on the right.
  4. Clicking the same app again closes its screen.

2.2 The app screen in the Suite

Top controls

BLACK BOX controls: ENCENDER, AUTOMÁTICO, Pantalla 1 · 1707×960, VR, STREAMING, MANUAL; right-side notice after VR says to capture PL OVERLAYS in OpenKneeboard.

ENCENDER (turn on) / APAGAR (turn off)Turns the on-screen overlay on/off. When on, APAGAR is orange. Starting here shows its orange editing frame so you can position it (see 2.3).
AUTOMÁTICO (automatic)When enabled, starts the app with iRacing or Le Mans Ultimate and stops it when the simulator closes. Click again to disable. Orange when enabled, like APAGAR.
Monitor listSelects the overlay monitor. Each entry shows number and size, for example Pantalla 1 · 1707×960. Without a choice it uses Windows’ primary monitor.
VRExplains VR viewing: in OpenKneeboard capture the PL OVERLAYS window.
STREAMINGCopies the overlay URL for an OBS browser source and reports required width×height. If copying fails, only displays the address.
MANUALOpens this app’s manual on the Push & Lift website in a browser.

VR and STREAMING notices appear beside the buttons and disappear after 4 seconds.

VISUALIZACIÓN: preview

When the overlay is off, its preview appears on the left inside a black simulator-like frame with DEMO in the corner. Engine demo data means no need to enter the track.

  • The heading shows VISUALIZACIÓN, track, lap position as a percentage, and DEMO for sample data.
  • Zoom controls at the preview’s top right: − zooms out, + zooms in, ajustar (fit) fits and recentres it, and 1:1 shows actual size.
  • Drag the overlay within the frame to inspect another position. Double-click to recentre. Only moves the preview, not the actual overlay.
  • Tamaño del overlay (overlay size): width × height fields in pixels. Editing either dimension scales proportionally. This is its on-screen size.
  • de fábrica (factory default): restores default size and forgets its position. Next start places it in the screen centre.
  • Below: app name and description.

The active overlay

When enabled, the preview becomes a notice: the overlay is live on your screen; menu changes apply immediately; hover and use EDITAR to move it. The heading becomes EN VIVO (live), explaining that menu changes affect the floating overlay.

MENÚ (menu)

The app’s own menu is on the right. Changes save automatically and apply immediately to preview and active overlay. Each app section explains its menu.

Drag the orange divider between preview/menu to resize the columns. Double-click restores equal halves.

2.3 Move and resize the on-screen overlay

Enabled overlays float above everything in a transparent window named PL OVERLAYS. Clicks pass through to the simulator so overlays do not interfere.

Edit mode

  • To position them, enter edit mode using F6 (edit overlay positions), or hover and click the orange tab EDITAR (edit) at the upper-right corner.
  • In edit mode each overlay has an orange frame and its name at the top right.
  • Move: drag any part of the frame.
  • Resize: drag one of four orange corners. Scales proportionally.
  • ✓ (Terminar de editar — finish editing): exits edit mode.
  • ✕ (Cerrar el overlay — close overlay): turns that overlay off.
  • Releasing saves position and size for next time. If that position is no longer on screen, it recentres.

Other shortcuts and gestures

  • Right-click an overlay to open its screen and menu in the Suite.
  • Ctrl+Alt+L (lock/unlock overlays, clicks pass through): toggles locked/unlocked. A banner explains that locked clicks pass to the simulator, with EDITAR for editing; unlocked overlays can be moved.
  • Alt+H (show/hide all overlays): hides or restores them all.
  • Change shortcuts in Suite AJUSTES (settings); see the SUITE manual.
  • Header: app name and description. A green toggle on the right hides the overlay when off, even if it remains running; turning it on restores visibility.
  • Tabs below the header organise the options.
  • Toggles: green enabled, grey disabled.
  • Options have small sequential numbers on the left: s1., s2.… in STANDINGS, r in RELATIVE, u in FUEL, l in LAPS, c in CLIMA.
  • Some options appear only when the parent option is enabled, such as a column’s time format when the column is on.
  • Restablecer posición (reset position): centres the overlay, useful if it moved off screen.

Session visibility and Solo en pista

STANDINGS, RELATIVE, FUEL and LAPS have a tab Visibilidad (visibility) with these options:

Appearance: Legacy, Redonda and Barra

FUEL, LAPS and CLIMA offer three layouts. Legacy uses the familiar boxes (default). Redonda (round) puts everything in a circle. Barra (bar) uses a single row. Each app explains what each layout shows.

STANDINGS

Session standings with header/footer session-data bars and one row per driver. Your row is orange and called Tú mismo (yourself) in the demo.

What you see

  • Class header (multiclass only): class name, SOF and driver count.
  • Columns: enabled columns, in menu order. Headings use full words if they fit, abbreviations if narrow.
  • Boxes (pits): stop count (0×), last stop duration and total pit time if enabled.
  • Distintivos de estado (status badges) beside names: PIT, BOX, OUT and 🔊 during radio speech. Marcar a los de mi equipo adds EQUIPO (team).
  • Cambio de iRating (iRating change): projected gains green, losses red.
  • Puestos ganados (positions gained): ▲ gained positions, ▼ lost positions.
  • Mejor vuelta (best lap): session best, or class best in multiclass, appears purple. In Última vuelta (last lap), green when it is their best.
  • Hueco al líder (gap to leader): the leader displays LÍDER.
  • Pitting drivers are dimmed; OUT drivers are crossed out.
STANDINGS with title bar enabled: Carrera strip above the session header. Otherwise unchanged: GT3/GT4 blocks and footer.
With Ver la barra de título enabled, the session type appears at the top. In races a progress bar fills as laps pass.

STANDINGS menu

Cabecera y pie tab

Two columns: BARRA DE CABECERA (header bar) (above table) and BARRA DE PIE (footer bar) (below). Identical tab in STANDINGS and RELATIVE.

STANDINGS Cabecera y pie: header toggle and twenty draggable/toggleable items. Session name, SOF, driver count, time with two lists, laps with list, incidents enabled; others off. Reset order. Footer same, with laps, local time, wetness and both temperatures enabled.
Factory-default Cabecera y pie. Both bars offer the same twenty data items. Toggle them and reorder with ⠿ handles.
  • Ver la cabecera (show header) / Ver el pie (show footer): toggles the whole bar. Turning it off hides its data list from the menu.

Drivers immediately ahead/behind on track, regardless of lap. You stay in the middle, orange.

What you see

  • Tiempo al jugador (gap to player): seconds between you and each driver. Ahead uses +, behind −; your row has a dash.
  • Drivers about to lap you appear red; drivers you are about to lap appear blue.
  • If fewer drivers are available than requested, empty rows keep the table stable.
  • Pitting drivers are dimmed; OUT drivers are crossed out.
  • Pits: if the engine does not know a driver’s stop count yet, displays sin dato (no data).

RELATIVE menu

RELATIVE header describes relative appearance/behaviour. Same four tabs as STANDINGS: Opciones del overlay (overlay options), Cabecera y pie (header and footer), Estilo (style) and Visibilidad (visibility). Cabecera y pie is identical to STANDINGS (see STANDINGS table).

FUEL

FUEL tells whether current fuel will reach the finish. The engine excludes atypical laps to avoid distorted consumption.

Legacy FUEL demo. FUEL title; tank row with litres, fuel laps, 106 L capacity and red bar. Por vuelta, Vueltas con esto, Faltan, Necesaria and red Falta boxes. Red outer border.
Factory Legacy FUEL with demo data. Red border warns of insufficient fuel.

What you see in Legacy

  • FUEL at the top. If calculation is not yet reliable, provisional appears beside it.
  • Depósito (tank): litres on board, fuel laps (· 8.2 vueltas), capacity (cap. 106 L), fullness bar.
  • Por vuelta (per lap): average consumption. Without own consumption this session, uses stored car/track data and labels it Por vuelta · memoria.
  • Última (last): consumption on the last valid lap, if enabled.
  • Vueltas con esto (laps with this fuel): laps available with current fuel.
  • Faltan (laps remaining): race laps remaining.
  • Necesaria (required): fuel required to finish, including safety margin.
  • Sobra (surplus) (green, +) or Falta (shortfall) (red, −): surplus or shortfall to finish.
  • Objetivo L15 (target L15) (with target lap enabled): litres needed if stopping on that lap.
  • Border colour: green above the green surplus-lap threshold, amber between thresholds, red below amber threshold.
Redonda FUEL: red tank-level ring, white finish-requirement marker; inside FUEL, litres, laps, red Falta and Faltan.
Redonda: tank ring with white marker for the amount needed to finish.
Barra FUEL: pump, litres, tank bar with marker, available/remaining laps and red shortfall on one line.

FUEL menu

FUEL header describes consumption, remaining laps and warnings. Three tabs: Opciones (options), Pantalla (display) and Visibilidad (visibility).

Two notes below consumption options:

  • Current-lap consumption, 10-lap average, maximum, minimum and qualifying consumption: available in a future version.
  • The car/track memory. Initially says nothing stored yet; driving teaches consumption and best lap per car/track. Afterwards shows car, track, mean/median/maximum consumption, lap/session counts and best lap. FUEL uses this memory until the current session has its own consumption.
FUEL Opciones with target stop enabled: target lap 15 and reference buttons Media/Última.
Enabling Vuelta objetivo de parada reveals Vuelta objetivo and Consumo de referencia.

LAPS

LAPS is your stopwatch: current lap, its predicted finish and your times.

Legacy LAPS: current stopwatch, predicted lap with red delta, yellow Sesión and Última boxes, one history row with question mark.

What you see in Legacy

  • ⏱ Vuelta en curso (current lap): stopwatch. At the line it briefly holds the completed time; green background for personal session best, purple for overall session best, yellow for all-time personal best.
  • ◎ Vuelta prevista (predicted lap): expected finish time at current pace, with delta: green when faster than reference, red when slower.
  • PERSONAL (personal), SESIÓN (session) and ÚLTIMA (last): all-time best for this car/track, session best and last lap. Yellow/purple/green follows the stopwatch rules.
  • RITMO (pace) and IDEAL (ideal): average of last 5 clean laps ± variation, requiring at least 3, and sum of best sectors in purple.
  • Historial (history): one line per lap with number L12, time and delta. Dirty laps grey; unknown cleanliness shows ? (sin dato de limpieza). Empty: sin vueltas todavía. In Gráfico (chart), times form a line: best lap green, slower-than-average laps red, mean dotted blue, best dotted green.
Redonda LAPS: red progress ring, stopwatch, prediction/red delta and MEJOR/ÚLT. line inside.

  • At the top, car/track memory. Empty: no stored data, all-time best learned by driving. With data: car, track, best lap, lap/session counts. LAPS uses it as all-time record unless a better one exists.

CLIMA

CLIMA shows track/weather conditions and when the track will get wetter or dry. Two independently enabled areas: CLIMA (default on) and VIENTO (wind) (default off).

Legacy vertical CLIMA: title, Pista with downward blue arrow, Aire, Viento compass/km/h, Humedad, Mojado Seca with bar; below Sin tendencia clara todavía, FIABLE label and note that the estimate is the engine’s, not iRacing’s.

What you see in Legacy

  • Pista (track) and Aire (air): temperatures with red ▲ when rising, blue ▼ when falling.
  • Viento (wind): compass direction relative to the car’s nose and speed.
  • Humedad (humidity) and Lluvia (rain) (if enabled).
  • Mojado (wetness): track wetness from low to high: Seca (dry), Casi seca (mostly dry), Muy poco mojada (very slightly wet), Poco mojada (slightly wet), Mojada (wet), Muy mojada (very wet), Empapada (soaked), with a bar.
  • Prediction: Moja en … (wetter in) or Seca en … (dry in), in minutes, or Sin tendencia clara todavía (no clear trend yet). Beside it, reliability: fiable (reliable), orientativo (indicative) or poca fiabilidad (low confidence). Below: engine’s own estimate, not provided by iRacing.
  • VIENTO (wind) (separate area): large compass, speed and relativo al morro (relative to nose). Legacy only.

Common tasks, step by step

Enable and position an overlay

  1. In the Suite BLACK BOX group, select an app, such as FUEL.
  2. Select a display if you have multiple monitors.
  3. Click ENCENDER (turn on). The overlay appears with its orange editing frame.
  4. Drag into position and stretch a corner to enlarge.
  5. Click ✓ to finish editing.

Start automatically with the simulator

  1. Select the app in the menu.
  2. Click AUTOMÁTICO (automatic). It now starts with iRacing/Le Mans Ultimate and stops when the simulator closes.

Move an already active overlay

  1. Click F6, or hover over the overlay and click EDITAR (edit).
  2. Move or resize it, then click ✓.

Choose STANDINGS or RELATIVE columns

  1. Select the app in the Suite menu.
  2. In Opciones del overlay, toggle each column.
  3. Drag its ⠿ handle up/down to change order.
  4. If you lose track, Restablecer el orden (reset order).

Show session data above the table

  1. In STANDINGS or RELATIVE, open Cabecera y pie.
  2. Enable Ver la cabecera and the desired data, such as Temperatura de la pista or Gasolina.
  3. Reorder with ⠿ handles.

Calculate fuel to add when stopping on a specific lap

  1. In FUEL Opciones, enable Vuelta objetivo de parada.
  2. Set Vuelta objetivo and choose Consumo de referencia, Media or Última.
  3. The overlay shows Objetivo L… and the litres needed.

Carry extra fuel

  1. Increase Margen de seguridad in FUEL Opciones.
  2. The margin adds to Necesaria and affects border colour.

Show the large wind compass

  1. In CLIMA Viento, enable Activar esta zona.
  2. Check Aspecto in Clima is Legacy.

Show overlay only during races

  1. Open Visibilidad in STANDINGS, RELATIVE, FUEL or LAPS.
  2. Disable Clasificación en solitario, Clasificación abierta, Entrenamientos and Test sin conexión. Leave Carrera on.

Use in OBS

  1. Select the app in Suite and click STREAMING.
  2. The address is copied. Add an OBS browser source, paste the address and set width/height as the notice specifies.

View in VR

  1. In OpenKneeboard, capture PL OVERLAYS, as explained by VR).

Common problems and remedies

FUEL without data: elongated dark box with Sin datos del motor centred.
An overlay without incoming data, FUEL here.
