RACE DDU · THE BRAKING ALERT

THE PROBLEM

I brake by eye, and every lap in a different place.

Starts as five lights.
Grows if you need it.

A tiny base bar — five LEDs counting down to your braking point, plus the Push & Lift button — that you can leave exactly like that, or dock up to 4 resizable panels around it for speed, fuel, gaps, weather and more.

WHY RACE DDU EXISTS

Five problems it solves.

“I don't want an overlay eating my FPS.”

Most overlays drag in image libraries and background services just to draw a few numbers — weight you pay for every lap, on every car.

RACE DDU is standard Python + tkinter only — not even Pillow. The carbon-fibre housing and the logo are hand-drawn without an image library. It starts in a blink and stays out of your frame time.

“I just want the braking alert, not a whole dashboard.”

Full dashboards are great until you only need one thing and the rest is clutter between you and the track.

It starts as a base bar you can shrink to almost nothing: 5 LEDs counting down 3 · 2 · 1 · BRAKE and the Push & Lift button that lights up with your inputs. Dock a panel only the day you actually want one.

“In VR I don't want to fight with windows.”

Most desktop tools assume a monitor. Getting them to behave in a headset usually means extra software and extra failure points.

--vr mode gives it a real window border made for OpenKneeboard and similar mirroring tools — pin it once, and every lap after that you just glance at it. No re-setup, no weird workarounds.

“Every car and track needs its own preset, and I'm tired of maintaining that.”

Overlays built around fixed, per-car braking marks mean a spreadsheet of presets that's always one update behind the moment you switch car or track.

RACE DDU runs on CSV·DDU, our own reference-lap engine: it reads a real lap — yours or anyone's — and resamples it by distance, not time. No preset points, no per-car packs. Any car, any track, from the first lap.

“I want to know how hard I'll need to brake before I even get there.”

A countdown alone tells you when — not how much pedal the corner is actually going to need.

Next to the LED, RACE DDU shows the expected peak brake % of the corner ahead — the target for your foot, known before you arrive, not guessed mid-corner.

DOCKABLE PANEL CATALOGUE

Split any of the 4 docks, put a widget in each cell.

SPEED, GEAR, RPM, pedals, FUEL, DELTA, position, GAPS, flags, weather — plus the predictions: Brake Alert, reference-lap delta and estimated iR/SR gain. Load a reference from a Garage 61 CSV, record one live, or use the built-in demo.
