PUSH & LIFT

FUEL

Fuel consumption, laps left in the tank and fuel needed to finish the race.

What it is for

FUEL measures your consumption and tells you how much fuel you have, how many laps it gives you, how many are left and how much you need to finish. The engine discards atypical laps so the count stays straight. If you have already driven that car on that track, it uses that memory until the session has its own consumption.

How to open and place it

  1. In the Suite menu, BLACK BOX group, click FUEL. On the left you see DISPLAY and on the right its menu.
  2. Click START. STOP removes it.
  3. AUTOMATIC: it starts with the simulator and stops when you close it.
  4. The dropdown chooses which screen it appears on. VR tells you which window to capture in virtual reality. STREAMING copies the link to add it to OBS as a browser source. MANUAL opens this manual on the web.
  5. Drag it to move it and stretch its corner to resize it.
  6. To drive without a click touching it, the Ctrl+Alt+L shortcut locks and releases the overlays.

What it shows

  • Tank: litres on board, how many laps they give you, capacity and a bar.
  • Per Lap and Last Lap: average consumption and that of the last valid lap.
  • Laps With Fuel and Laps Left: what the tank gives you and what remains of the race.
  • Required and At Finish: the fuel needed to finish and what you will have spare or short. If the figure is not reliable yet, it shows provisional.
  • Target: with the target pit lap on, the litres needed from that lap to the finish.

The options

They open from the FUEL menu, in three tabs.

Options

Look: Legacy, the usual boxes; Round, the tank as a ring with a mark for what you need to finish; or Bar, everything on one line.

Fuel: Fuel Units, litres or gallons, and Safety Margin, added to the fuel required and counted in the status colour.

Fuel Status Alerts: Show Fuel Status Border, in green, amber or red. Green Threshold and Amber Threshold set, in spare laps, where the colour changes.

Fuel Consumption: Show Average Consumption and Show Last Lap. Below them, the car's memory on that track.

Pit Strategy: Enable Target Pit Lap, Target Pit Lap and Target Pit Lap Basis, Average or Last.

Display

Background Opacity.

Visibility

Session Visibility: Race, Lone Qualify, Open Qualify, Practice and Offline Testing. Show only when on track shows it only while driving. Reset Position puts the overlay back in place.

Common tasks

Knowing how much you are short to finish

  1. Drive until Required stops showing as provisional.
  2. Check At Finish.
  3. Set the Safety Margin to your liking.

Working out a stop on a specific lap

  1. Turn on Enable Target Pit Lap.
  2. Enter the lap in Target Pit Lap.
  3. Choose Target Pit Lap Basis.
  4. Read the litres on the Target line.

Letting the colour warn you

  1. Turn on Show Fuel Status Border.
  2. Set Green Threshold and Amber Threshold.

Common problems

  • "No data from the engine": the engine is not giving data. Open the simulator and join a session.
  • "Waiting for closed laps…": there is no fuel figure yet. Keep driving.
  • The Target line does not show: it needs consumption and a race with a known total of laps.
  • You cannot see it: check Session Visibility and Show only when on track.
  • Something you are looking for is missing: current-lap usage, 10-lap average, maximum, minimum and qualifying usage are not there yet. The menu says so.
