DOCUMENTATION
The full manual, as it ships inside the app.
The suite's livery editor. You paint your car with real layers —images, text, numbers— and when you like it, one button installs it straight into your iRacing.
No Photoshop needed and nobody to pay. You don't even need to go looking for your car's official template: it downloads it for you.
Free, in beta.
Top: car · customer ID · language · project (save/open) · undo/redo · PNG · Download TGA · RACE WITH IT.
Middle: the canvas with your car.
Sides: Add graphics, the LAYERS panel and the properties panel for whatever you have selected.
1 · PICK YOUR CAR
There are 199 cars in the list. The first time you pick one, the
editor downloads its official template (takes a moment) and puts it
in the background as a guide.
2 · ENTER YOUR CUSTOMER ID
It's your iRacing number. It's needed because the paint file is
named with your number: that's how the sim knows the paint is yours.
3 · PAINT
· Base body colour
· Add layers: image, text or number
· Move, scale and rotate with the mouse, right on top of the car
· In the layers panel: reorder, hide, lock or delete
4 · RACE WITH IT
Writes the paint into the iRacing folder, in exactly the right
place. That's it: next time you go in, your car is painted.
You can also DOWNLOAD TGA (the file itself, to keep or share) or PNG
(a normal image, to show off). 🎲 Surprise me generates a random combination. Good for getting
going when you don't know where to start.
🔀 new swaps the batch of colour palettes on offer.
Insert logo drops a logo onto the car.
My uploads the images you've already uploaded, to reuse without
hunting for them again.
Fit fits the selected layer into place.
↺ Reset everything start from scratch (it asks first).
📤 Send to my suite sends the design to your suite. On any layer:
move · scale · rotate
skew on X and Y
shadow: colour, blur and offset
clipping with inset
Flop and Flip (mirror H and V)
clone
MIRROR CLONE duplicates the layer reflected on the other side of the
car, with the rotation inverted. So both flanks match
without doing the work twice.Seven, the same as the reference editor:
Normal · Glossy · Flat · Matte · Semi-Metallic · Metallic · Chrome
⚠ HONEST WARNING: in the editor you see an approximation. The REAL shine on track is generated by iRacing when it processes your paint, and no editor controls that — not even the paid ones. What you see here is a guide, not a photo of the final result.
THE TEMPLATE IS NOT EXPORTED The official template loads as a locked layer on top so you can line things up. It switches itself off on export: it will not end up drawn on your car. Same as the "turn off before exporting" group in iRacing's own file.
THE TEMPLATES ARE THE OFFICIAL ONES They are downloaded from iRacing directly, not from a middleman. They are the same ones any paid editor hands out.
The full pack is big (nearly 2 GB, all cars together), so it downloads ONCE, is kept, and resumes if it gets cut off. It is not downloaded again for each car.
Of the 199 cars in the list, 168 have an official template available.
THE CAR NAMES Of the 199, 85 carry the exact name the simulator uses. The rest carry a name derived from their identifier and are marked as unverified: the car works just the same, the name may simply not be literally the sim's.
Language the suite's 6; changes the interface instantly. Project save your half-finished work and open it another day.
So you don't go looking for it:
· There is no 3D view inside the editor. To see it in 3D you use
iRacing's own preview, same as in the original editor.
· The painting guides (grid, sponsor and number areas, car mask) are
translated but not drawn on the canvas yet.
· Shapes: today there is rectangle and ellipse. Curve, brush, star,
polygon and arrow are not there.
· When you press RACE WITH IT the paint is installed, but iRacing
doesn't reload it live yet: go into the session afterwards. The window comes up blank → the editor needs the Windows page engine
(WebView2). It's on any up-to-date Windows 11. If your machine is old, update Windows.
It takes ages the first time I pick a car → it's downloading the
official template pack. It's nearly 2 GB and only happens ONCE. If it gets cut off, it carries on where it was, not from scratch.
My car has no template → 168 of the 199 cars in the list have an
official template. Without one you can still paint, just without the guide showing where things go.
I painted the car and it's white on track → check the CUSTOMER ID is
really yours. The file is named with that number, and if it doesn't match, iRacing won't recognise it as yours.
I can't see the change on track → leave the session and come back in.
Today the paint is installed but the sim doesn't reload it while you are inside.
The chrome/matte finish doesn't look like the editor → that's
expected, see the warning in the finishes section.
Nothing, it's free and in beta.
All the work happens on your PC. The only thing that goes out to the internet is downloading iRacing's official templates, and no account or password is needed for that. Your designs are not uploaded anywhere.
